Blosxom to Wordpress

HOWTO migrate from Blosxom to Wordpress. Uses the MT export format, which means things like hierarchical categories don’t transfer over. Hat tip: D’Ancy Norman.

My blosxom-based blog didn’t have a very deep hierarchy — only a few posts that were more than one
deep — so for me it wasn’t a big hassle. Hey, at least I mentioned it:

You can fix this after import and well as build up a category hierarchy, so it isn’t a big deal

Fixing it up after import didn’t take too long. Just had to manually create a few categories that didn’t have posts in them on their own… Really liking Wordpress, but miss the way categories were handled under Blosxom – like, in Wordpress each category needs to have a unique name (meaning I can’t have a structure like /apple/ipod and /software/ipod – there can be only 1 ipod…)
