Remove from Meetup

Even though I’ve stepped down as the organizer for all of the Meetup groups I was involved in, they kept bugging me every few days to “be an organizer” for the very groups I had left. Want to delete yourself from Meetup entirely? Here’s the remove from Meetup link.

  1. I wasn’t the only one! I joined a group, not even as an organizer, and they spammed the hell out of me to become one. Took some doing, but I found the same method to get off their list.

  2. I was just about to rant about the same thing. I’ve never been an organizer or even attended a Meetup, but I signed up for a few local ones in case they start really happening. Now I get three emails a week begging me to be the organizer–and adding insult to injury by offering me a discount on the FEE I have to pay to be the organizer.

I already have enough unpaid jobs without taking a job I have to pay to do…

    Another happy opt-out-ee.

  3. When I found out that you were going to have to pay to be an organizer, I stepped down from my positions right away…. but I kept getting the stupid emails to be an organizer… There were so many I was ready to pull my hair out. So, I quit meetup all together…. Too bad, too. The idea for the site was a really good one.

  4. i was meetup member, have removed my account a while back (I guess it’s last year). It’s just because of one thing: they’re rude (it’s what I feel, they blamed instead of trying to fix)

    🙁

  5. Oddly enough, when I was doing my own unsub process, they actually gave me that link somewhere along the way. I thought it nice of them; sad to see that not everyone was easily given that opportunity.

  6. Yeah thanks for the link, I’ve been meaning to look into this for a while but haven’t had the chance. No, I do not want to manage a group, leave me alone!!
