Great interview of the guy running Hotmail, he talks a lot about the scaling of megaservices and some of the concerns of managing tens of thousands of boxes. What would you give to hear a similar interview by his counterpart at Google or Yahoo? Fascinating read. ¶

He says he started working on the project about 5.5 years ago. It was around then that Hotmail ceased to be FreeBSD-based. Could they ever live with the shame? *smile*

I think there’s nothing wrong with using a Windowze box. Of course they are attacked by virus more often, but then again, that happens to all platform that isn’t well maintained.
