Excellent news – I’ve been waiting for this!

I use Vanilla as a bulletin board software and I really like it. The developer of Vanilla has written a document about integrating Vanilla and WordPress, and it looks really easy to apply. You can check it out here: http://lussumo.com/docs/doku.php?id=vanilla:integration:wordpress
(Well, it’s not as easy as bbPress and WordPress integration, but considering they are from totally different developers, it’s impressive…)

Hey iyiinsan: I had used Vanilla on the website linked in my name and didn’t like the integration that much. I had problems keeping sessions and had to login multiple times to get Vanilla to accept my login. I ended up deleting Vanilla and using a wordpress plugin, RS Discuss. It’s in Alpha mode but very stable and works well. It’s a little feature lite but more is coming.

Good news on the bbPress integration though. I had wanted to use it to begin with but didn’t like what I read about the integration with WP. I might look at it again in the future.
