The Extraordinary Science of Addictive Junk Food, a long read but fascinating story of how we’re getting hooked on food. See also: Paul Graham’s Acceleration of Addictiveness.

  1. It was an OK read (terrible title though, its about prostitution, not science, or maybe the science of prostitution) mostly “emotionally satisfying” in the sense of placing blame on the “bad guys”.

For a deeper perspective on food I recommend Michael Pollan’s “In Defense of Food” ( http://michaelpollan.com/books/in-defense-of-food/ ) where you will find that the first junk food (~120 years ago) was … white flour.
