How come no one has ever done a reverse version scheme? Now that WP up to 1.2 I’d like to start counting back down. When we reach 0.0 we’ll be perfect.

Well, if you feel you’re still a long way from perfect, you’d have versions like 0.9.4.5.2.1a revision 3, which isn’t nice. Good luck anyways.
While that does sound rather interesting, and very unique, what happens if something is added post 0.0(I don’t know, say a php version adds some freakish new format)? We start with negative versions. Hmm..the masses will collapse in confusion.
SmallEiffel, the GNU Eiffel compiler used to do something like that.
They started from -0.99 and went towards 0.
Sadly they stopped in 2002 at -0.74 and renamed the project SmartEiffel, with plain old positive version numbers.
Don Knuth decided to freeze TeX’s feature-set at version 3. All subsequent revisions (3.1, 3.14, 3.141, 3.1415, …) converge to π. Similarly, MetaFont is converging to “e”.
I don’t care what the version number is; as long as it says WordPress at the top, then I’m happy!
A version number countdown. Sounds great as long as there’s confetti and whatnot when you install 0.0.
