The Jotspot folks have a new blog, running WordPress. I got to meet Joe and Graham (co-founders of Jotspot, and Excite back in the day) on Tuesday and it was quite inspiring. Graham Spencer also has his own WP blog. I tried to check out Joe Kraus’s blog as well but it seems to be down with a strange Squid error.
Is there a way to determine if a site is using WordPress?
One of the sites has removed all references to WordPress on their visible, but if you view source, they still have some links to WordPress.
What about other sites? I can usually tell when a site has the default template, but some of the heavily modified blogs are harder to check.
When someone first installs WP, does the install somehow PING WordPress.Org?
I’m familiar with the software so it’s easy to tell the characteristics that make up a WP blog.
It is hard to take away all traces of WordPress. For a start, you need to rename all the PHP files… and that alone is a pain because having done so, all references to WP files need to be modified…
Someone would have to really WANT it for every clue to be dusted off.
