When I saw Giga Om at Jay’s lunch yesterday he happily informed me that his site, which is now on WordPress 1.5, handled Slashdottings two days in a row and all of the traffic from the LJ/6A story without a hiccup. I asked if he was running Staticize which increases the performance of WP significantly and he said no. (!)
I hate to be a party pooer, but until Om and your self pointed this out, I had been wondering why it had been crawling a few nights ago. I was working on the site at the time, and it did slow down signifigantly. WordPress didn’t have any hiccups and was generating at about the same speed, but the overall pounding just makes it hard.
But doesn’t that just go to show that Apache’s connection limit is the limiting factor, rather than WordPress or PHP?
Any specific date for the official release of WP 1.5?
