There are about 16-20 researchers working at Amazon India, all of whom are Ph.D.s, Masters, or masters of the trade, working on finding solutions to complex problems. A lot of the employees are folks that returned to India after studying/working here.
A friend of mine interviewed with them recently and has to say that it was very challenging and purely technical – algorithm optimization etc…
Amazon is one of many companies that are now beginning to have research centers/labs in India, as opposed to the testing+verification stuff that American software house usually like to start offshore.
It’s only a development website, so they don’t need to follow any standards.
