TaskThis is another ta-da list clone that is actually much more impressive. Rails rails rails rails rails. I think it’s time for me to check out Rails again.
Rails is certainly getting a lot of hype lately, but I can’t say it seems that exciting. Not really used Ruby that much, though, so I might not just understand the whole Ruby paradigm – it’s definitely very different, but I don’t know whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing.
Uhh… Basically the same as ta-da. Clone actually with a few more features and some eye candy. People miss why Ta-da is so great – it’s SIMPLE. It’s not about more features. It’s about less. It does simple lists really well.
I haven’t registered or downloaded source yet, but I’d have to agree with Randy. The fact that it’s simple itself is a feature (just like bbPress :P). I believe it’s around 550 lines of code (actually a bit less) and that’s pretty impressive.
It’s actually 302 lines of code, and can easily be reproduced in about an hour in Rails. That’s why rails is so impressive 🙂 Be expecting some WAY cooler Rails apps in the next month. 0.12 brought some amazing enhancements to Rails… looks like 1.0 is close on the horizon.
“Cake is a framework for PHP, based on Rails. It’s aim is to aid programming web applications. It’s released under Public Domain licence. This is not an one-for-all solution, it’s just a framework I happen to develop and use. I hope you enjoy it.”
Dont’ compare cake to Rails. Cake may be an MVC framework, but PHP cannnot, ever, achieve anything close to Rails. Those who naievely think this will be sorely dissapointed by Cake… while Rails will feel like you got invited to heaven.
I love that he made the source available.
Hmmm… The AJAX-fu hangs for me when I try to add two tasks in a row, but it’s a fun little proof-of-concept.

Hmm WordPress in a sweet RoR flavour does same like a very cool thing 😉
sweet, it even allows markup.
Except that no one could run it unless they were on TextDrive.
Punk rock. Thanks for the pointer.
