If people are worried about spyware, isn’t the automatic pinging of Ping-O-Matic more of an “issue” than the fetching of an image? It’s a pretty stupid concern either way, but come on… a cross-site image fetch tells you precious little. Certainly nothing that could be used to compromise that person’s website or data.
Anyway, I thought that was a very fair review. The detracting point they made about poor handling of uploaded files is spot on. I made that point as well, I think it’s WordPress’s most notably absent feature.

Interesting point, that one. Even better, you could use compressed JavaScript to disguise that off-site reference. *wink*
