The statue (used to be nicknamed “7-up” by bus driver) was built on Cold War era, or to be exactly in Presiden Eisenhower era.
It show Anoman (or as Indian said, “Hanuman”), the ape-man from Kiskenda (or as Indian said, “Kishkinda”) flew toward Alengka ( now is known as Srilanka).

Because this statue express President Sukarno’s praise for Russian achievement in success of launching Sputnik and also hope that one day Indonesia can have glory in the sky.
The name of the statue is “Patung Dirgantara” or “Dirgantara statue”. Dirgantara means “fly in the sky”.
