Writing this from the beautiful town of Round Rock Top, TX. There is nothing quite like the open roads of Texas to clear your mind.

*clap clap clap clap* Deep in the heart of Texas…

Having been raised in Universal City, I have to agree with the open roads of Texas statement. And having lived on a small sub-tropical Pacific island for most of the past thirty-two years, that’s one of the things I miss the most.

Isn’t “round top” the name of a loaf of bread?

  • Rob L. November 3, 2005 @ 5:32 pm

You coming to Austin for a couple of days while you’re here under the Lone Star?

  • JBChris November 3, 2005 @ 5:34 pm

Amen to that!! *Starts singing: Texas, our Texas…* ;-) Round Rock is an awesome town. Been through there a couple of times myself. Enjoy yourself!

Wait… You’re living on a tropical Pacific island and you’re envious of the roads in Texas?? Go out and lay in the sun, watching beautiful women run around in little strips of cloth that pass as clothing!!

I guess it’s true what they say: The grass is always greener… I’d still gladly trade you some South Carolina roads for that Pacific island any day of the week! ;)

Umm, it’s your typical suburb. Not quite sure what would make it an ‘awesome’ town. Unless you consider proximity to Austin in the equation. ;)

Matt, you should try to throw together a quick meet-up if you are in or around Austin.

Heh, looks like Matt’s not using Akismet on his own comments… :)

Too bad I don’t work at Dell anymore or we’d probably be mere feet apart :) If you have a hankering to talk to a new Symantec employee feel free to ping me…I’m only 15 minutes away from Round Rock now :)

I love the Hill Country of Texas.

I don’t get it. Are you in Round Top or Round Rock? Two totally different places.

  • Matt November 9, 2005 @ 11:27 am

Top! Sorry I didn’t notice the typo.

  • Meryl November 10, 2005 @ 8:28 pm

Good to see you back in Texas, Matt. How long ya stickin’ around here parts?

  • Charleen November 11, 2005 @ 8:04 am

For Matt Smith: our grandmother was born in Round Rock, and Matt’s sister (me!) lives in Pflugerville. It’s a cool area.

For Photomatt: I’m pretty sure you were in Round Rock, unless you took quite a detour.
    Love, C

Yes, I concur, Texas has the best roads to just get lost on. Travel the large gently rolling expanses of land and tak in the beauty of one of the most unique states. Round Rock is cool but what makes it even better is it’s a burb of Austin. Austin rocks.

Random fact: Round Top has a fantastic college-levelclassical music festival each summer including an amazing wood-panelled gem of a concert hall and a full orchestra coached by members of the Houston Symphony. Too bad their website is ugly.
