My mistress’ eyes are nothing like the sun, my hunger for her explains everything I’ve done. Herbie Hancock and Sting.

Marvelous song! From what albom does it come?
This is the album, called Possibilites. The rest of it is mixed except for a song with John Mayer which is pretty fun. It’s a little more poppy than I usually like Herbie Hancock.
not sure where the second part of the line comes from, but the first is a rip from shakespeare’s sonnet 130. i love sting but man he shamelessly steals.
Well if you’re going to steal, it might as well be from the best.
Ummm… that line is so extremely well known that it’s unlikely Sting thought of it as ‘stealing’, more like homage/sampling/re-usage.
Matt, thanks for reminding me about Sting’s jazzier times. The double live album Bring on the Night is in my top five ever.
Love the “unlucky in cards”.
Semja — ORIGINALLY, Sting recorded it on an album called “…Nothing Like the Sun”, which IMHO was his best one.
I understand that Sting and Herbie will be performing this song on tomorrow’s (Dec 7 2005) Good Morning America.
