This is why Google is trying to solve global warming. So they can run their datacenters without A/C more days.

Sure they do!
I found the “follow the moon” concept particularly interesting, although it’d be you’d always be fetching content off a server literally on the other side of the Earth.
Also, they might be clever enough to realize how threatening unchecked climate change would be to humanity in general. A business-as-usual scenario with 5.5?C to 7.1?C of warming would cause a lot of strife, destruction, and death.
A smart and green move.
Let’s hope Gmail won’t go down again like the way it did in last February when workloads are shifted.
