Great piece by Jonathan Libov on text-based messaging interfaces for everything in the future, it’s like the command line has come alive again.

  1. Fascinating article. My worry is what if Foursquare’s suggestion of ‘Supper’, the nearby Italian restaurant, isn’t where you want to eat. Texting back “no, try again” three times in a row to get a good suggestion is a lot more hassle than just scrolling right past the places you don’t like. A swipe or a scroll feels like much less effort than a message interaction.

However, as a whole I agree that text has a larger role to play than it currently does, as long as it’s rolled out effectively.
