WordPress wish list

Thunderbyrd WordPress wish list, what’s neat is almost everything is covered through plugins. Also see the official wishlist on the wiki.

  1. First and foremost, I want to say thank-you to everyone who stopped by and left comments. I am still awestruck by how polite everyone was. I cannot think of another open source software community that would be as friendly and open-minded as the WordPress community is. It makes me proud of the people who have committed so much time and effort.

Secondly, although some, but not all of the things are wished for are avialable as plugins or hacks, not all of them are. But even for the ones that there are, I still believe that some of them should be included in the core of the base install.

The most difficult thing to implement is something that no one commented on… plugins that don’t require hacking of program files. In order to do this, I believe you have to make the main core even more modular than it already is. I may be talking out of my hat here, and I welcome any corrections.

I suspect that as I come to better understand how WP works, I’ll be able to better express those things that I still think need added or fixing.

For now though, I appreciate that I can speak up without fear or reprisal. This is something that is more valuable to me than any plugin or hack.

    Thanks!
