72 hours later: The world is on fire, from Blake Ross. It mentions WordPress, the number of referrals we send should go up when 1.3 comes out with the Firefox button in the footer. People have asked why we’re supporting Firefox like we do, but it’s just one underdog open-source project helping another.
*looks puzzled*
Does that mean 1.3 will come out this very week?
Just puzzlin’.
What else would we support, really? WordPress is an Open Source project. There is only one browser out there that’s usable and runs on all platforms that matter in the Open Source world — Firefox. Opera, though running on almost the same platforms, is adware.
But goooood adware!
Ohh, and speaking about underdog open-source projects…
Matt already mentioned us with his article about “The Saint WP“: TSW [The Saint WAMP], an Apache/MySQL/PHP installer for Win32. A WordPress plug-in is – beside others – also available.
I am one of those people. And well, Opera is adware, but runs on many more platforms than moz! 🙂
I heard mozilla was working on minimo… that might make it evens… 😀
It’s not just that it’s open source. It’s the best. Opera has cool features, but its JavaScript support is wonky and it has some CSS bugs.
The one thing I find cool about Opera is the support for alternate media types, notably ‘projection’, which leads to the oh-so-cool Opera Show technique. Apart from that, Firefox is my weapon of choice.
