Squarespace

Squarespace has a fantastic site but the software is underwhelming, as are their “featured” sites. Searching around shows about 500 sites visibly powered by them. Anyone know anyone actually using it? I think there are some good ideas there WordPress could learn from.

  1. As the founder/designer, I can answer any questions you may have 🙂

How long did you spend with the software? I’m quite surprised at your analysis. Since I haven’t been a member of the blogosphere for any period of time really, we didn’t have the advantage of simply announcing Squarespace across the internet free of charge 🙂 I’ll watch this thread today and answer any questions that pop up.

    Thanks for the mention.

  2. Anthony, thank you very much for stopping by. If you’re interested in more feedback I can give the service a more thorough run-through.

Again, fantastic job on the site, it’s clear and markets the product very well, not to mention it’s attractive to boot.

  4. Not to be repetative, but again, its a very nice looking site and design software. A lot of the features look excellent and perfect for your average Joe who doesn’t know what he’s doing. I also noticed the big Get Firefox button on the page that talks about which browsers are supported, so I have to give you props there. Only one real disadvantage and that’s from a developer standpoint which would be a lot of hacking away at code and such, which I’m pretty sure you don’t allow so that you can keep your product yours, and not have 1000 imitation projects pop up everywhere. Overall a very nice job, and I too think there’s a few little things that WordPress could learn.
