More Stand Up

I’m the #1 hit for Dave Matthews new CD, and the comments keep coming in. Also, Boing Boing drives a noticeable amount of traffic, which is unusual.

  1. Also, Boing Boing drives a noticeable amount of traffic, which is unusual.

    Why would this be unusual?

As far as I know, Boing Boing is immensely popular, so it only makes sense to bring some of that traffic to you too, when they’re linking to you.

  2. Konstantinos, originally I meant an amount of traffic to be noticable in the daily stats for this site, but reviewing the day they only sent about 900 people here, so it’s less than I originally thought.

  3. This example points to the speed at which things can move through the blogosphere and on the internet as well as how important it is that companies are listening to their customers. Things move so very rapidly and smart companies will need to best understand how to manage this process. Of course the short answer is Dave Matthews should have his record company say that all future CDs will come without this crap software on it but I’m not really sure that they are listening. Some companies are some companies are not. I think it would be interesting if this story actually made it to Dave himself.

I posted this on my blog today about this incident:

“Yesterday Matt Mullenweg posted that the new Dave Matthews Band CD was crashing his PC due to some crap software that Dave wanted you to install in order to listen to it. Matt got a lot of attention on the story. I first saw the story at Om Malik’s site.

I particulary dislike Dave Matthews because I bought a CD of his last year and couldn’t rip it and I think it’s pretty chump that some guy who supposedly is all into the fan sharing thing asked the Internet Archive to remove his live recordings.

So after seeing it at Om’s site I thought the story made for good Boing Boing material and submitted it to them. Boing Boing in turn published the story and now Matt has the top site on Google when you search for Dave Matthews Stand Up (the name of the new CD)

Isn’t this new internet thing great.”

  4. Also I’m not sure if people also noticed that Om’s article on the same story is the number three hit on Google.

Both Om and Matt are ahead of USA Today’s review of the article.
