It is amazing Ping-O-Matic has handled as much traffic as it has thus far, but it really wasn’t conceived with these levels even imagined. It hasn’t had a good update since it was doing 20-30 reqs/second. Time to rip it out and start from the ground up. I’ll blog about it again when the new system is ready.
so, you mean you are taking the service down for now or it will continue and will be replaced when the new system is ready?
If I may ask, which rrdtool wrapper was use to get the statistics?
Thanks
Amit
The RRD module for Lighttpd.
I never succeed on using Ping-o-mattic as my blog ping service. I prefer using pingoat instead.
Good luck Matt, and keep up the good work.
Good work Matt.. Thanks for all your efforts to make the blogosphere a better place 😉
Yay for lighty!
If only it had svn-via-webdav it’d be perfect 😉
Since Ping-o-matic is the default ping recipient for all WP blogs, perhaps information about this including how to enter sites to ping directly should be added to the WordPress dev blog?
Will Ping-o-matic be back?
It’s back online already, the downtime was actually something different and unplanned.
It only seems to ping weblogs.com. I see that there are updates posted at >http://pingomatic.wordpress.com/>.
Hey..
While you’re at it could you change my XMLRPC URL (which I sent you two emails about)…
Kevin
Kevin, I sent you an email asking what the new URL is. I can’t find the one where you sent it.
