State of the Word 2012

I had an amazing weekend at WordCamp San Francisco hanging out with hundreds of WordPress users from all over the world at the main event and the dev day afterward. Then on Sunday I was humbled to be featured on the cover of my hometown paper the Houston Chronicle in an article David Kaplan wrote following the 10-year high school reunion I went to (PDF).

If you wanted to catch up on the State of the Word address I gave on Saturday, the video and the slides are now online, or you can watch it embedded below. The slides are on Slideshare.

It was a pleasure meeting so many of you, and I hope it’s not next year before we meet again. Thank you to Michael Pick and Pete Davies for helping me out under tight timelines again.

  1. Im looking forward to the coming years of WordPress.
I am no beginner, but im definietly still in starting up learning more about WordPress as a CMS.
What I look and would love to have is to have more “educational” ressources so that students alike could learn how to utilize the platform to create beautiful web applications and/or blogs.

Im always looking forward to the next year, and especially this years December release of 3.5

    Cheers

  2. This was the first WordCamp I ever saw (on the live stream) and I was excited to hear about the upcoming updates to WordPress and some of the “dreams”, like face tagging in photos. Excellent work as ever. Looking forward to the Twentytwelve theme and version 3.5 already.

  3. I’m pretty happy that I’m a part of the WordPress community. Also, what a sweet article in the Houston Chronicle! I’d say surfer-esque before “boyish blond with snowboarder stubble.” 🙂

  4. absolutely mind twisting, exciting, inspiring and annoying all at the same time. but surprisingly gives hope and make your feels like theres a guardian angel behind your back. i hope to see this improve more and i hope its used responsibly

  5. Great talk Matt, I love the imagery you’re using in the slides. Just wondering did you do all the anaglyphs in Photoshop or have you found something quicker / easier / better ?
