Beethoven tells you what it’s like to be Beethoven and Mozart tells you what it’s like to be human. Bach tells you what it’s like to be the universe.

  1. Allthough Beethoven has an extraordinary amount of self-consciousness he is aware of hybris. If there is one thing to be a byword for his music it is humanity. So my thoughts to that phrase is for Beethoven the humanity for Mozart purity/clarity of beauty. And Bach – he wouldn’t choose universe but god

    1. so here is my alternative:

Beethoven tells you about humanity and Mozart tells you about ageless beauty. Bach tells you about God.

  2. God tells us through the Bible who we are, where we came from, what we are to do and where we are going. I like the music of Beethoven, Mozart and Bach. But for the meaning and purpose of life, I want to hear from the the one who created us and placed us on this earth.

  3. Does he expand on this? When I think Beethoven, I think of the sky/heavens. Moonlight Sonata makes me think of night. Symphony #9 is a masterpiece from heaven.
