Fusion

This is a big deal. There are a lot of big deals happening right now, it’s honestly a very exciting time to be in tech. I feel like a sailor in a tumultuous sea, and they should have sent a poet. T. S. Eliot was actually the inspiration for WordPress’ tagline “Code is Poetry” and I’m reminded of this from The Dry Salvages:

O voyagers, O seamen,
You who came to port, and you whose bodies
Will suffer the trial and judgement of the sea,
Or whatever event, this is your real destination.”
So Krishna, as when he admonished Arjuna
On the field of battle.
Not fare well,
But fare forward, voyagers.

  1. Matt! If you love TS Elliot, you must come to Oxford!!!! Thanks for sharing this article. I loved this quote…

“Crossing this threshold is the vision that has driven 60 years of dedicated pursuit—a continual process of learning, building, expanding knowledge and capability, and then finding ways to overcome the new challenges that emerged. These are the problems that the U.S. national laboratories were created to solve.”

Have you read Thoreau or visited Walden pond? He spent 2 years, 2 months and 2 days experimenting with a life truly connected to nature (that was his vision). He wrote…

“If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. He will put some things behind, will pass an invisible boundary; new, universal, and more liberal laws will begin to establish themselves around and within him; or the old laws be expanded, and interpreted in his favor in a more liberal sense, and he will live with the license of a higher order of beings.”

I love that they didn’t give up on this vision and they pushed through all the challenges. This is how greatness and life changing technology emerges. Thank God for visionaries!

  2. Its really exciting times, I’m most excited to see how Stable Diffusion and similar text to image platforms are going to change how we create and search for products.
