Both can be successful, but you need to decide which you want to do.
A mixture of both is always good. Fix responsibility+give freedom+welcome suggestions & monitoring constantly is a good idea in my opinion.

I agree its diffrent time and world we live in and sometimes what we hear is not always what it is but never the less sometime s you have to adapt to a point to survive in a society that only a few choose to work together
