Two cool new WordPresses launched on VIP: Nate Silver’s new FiveThirtyEight site, and the Facebook Newsroom, which I believe is the first WP-powered Facebook site. (Hopefully the first of many!) Also congrats to 10up and Beyond respectively for working on each of these sites.

Matt Kelly (and many others) have put together an official Facebook Integration for WordPress plugin, which is available in the directory as of today. Glad to see the company becoming involved directly in the WordPress community, and excited to see what’s next in that regard.
Facebook Over-optimization
On Facebook I was trying to get to an event and clicked “see all” on the friend finder instead of the events area. Then something caught my eye, every friend Facebook was suggesting for me was female, and most I didn’t know. (Update, there’s one guy in there.) The first part of that is interesting — perhaps they’re testing some optimization in the friend-adder with the assumption that since I’m a straight male I’m more likely to add girls than guys, but if so that seems a little skeezy.
WordPress.com Facebook App
We launched a WordPress.com Facebook App today, feedback has been mostly good, except some good points about how much space it takes up and formatting. It got 4 out of 5 stars on Facereviews. If you have a FB account, please check it out. (It doesn’t work for self-hosted WordPresses yet, but if it’s popular we’ll put more dev into it.)
