Satisfaction

I have made quite the discovery. I’ve been seeing Kristine post about naps quite a bit, so when I found myself with some free time earlier today I decided to try it.

Oh. My. Gosh.

The rest of the day I was refreshed and on the ball, it was like a whole other world. The air was fresher; the sky was bluer; the chocolate was sweeter. I realized that there has been a huge gap in my life of about fourteen or fifteen years where I took no naps, maybe even longer since I seem to remember messing around during naptime in kindergarten. This has got to change—no longer will I sleep only in a large block (actually usually a small block) at nighttime. If you haven’t tried this nap thing lately, you really should. Anyone else recently discover the joy of naps?

  1. dude, i am the QUEEN of naps. i take one practically every day. beware, though.. it screws up your circadian rhythm and tears it to shreds so you don’t have a consistent wake/sleep cycle (and if you try to have one, you’ll feel severely burned out). but naps are great. i had one today, which is why i am up right now… not studying for calculus ;P

  2. man, the ones i take are like replacements for the sleep i don’t get at night, so i take huge chunks of time for naps… like five hours. but healthy ones are probably two hours or so.. i started limiting my naps to two hours and you get the same amount of satisfaction as a five-hour one without all the deathlike results when you try to go to sleep again that night. my sister told me this little tidbit: drink a bit of caffeine right before you go to sleep and you will wake up in an hour feeling refreshed. i don’t know if that’s true or not, because i’m not big on caffeine, but i guess it works.

  3. Oh my god, my suite takes so many naps. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve come home to find two or three girls passed out on their beds.

  4. ‘Do they really? I think they have the right idea. Sometimes the US reminds me of what Thucydides said about the Athenians: “They know no rest and will allow no others to know it either.” That’s a paraphrase but gets the gist.
