Take the —— Pill

If you would like to see the new Matrix with me and a few others tomorrow, here’s what you do.

  1. Go to Fandango.
  2. Enter your Houston zip code. (77035 works for me.)
  3. Choose the 10:20 showing at “Edwards Houston Marq*e 23 & IMAX.”
  4. Buy tickets.
  5. Call, email, or comment, and I’ll tell you where we’re meeting up and such.

I can’t wait. In others news Tantek recommended a number of books to me (some of which he’s posted about) and I’ve started it out with Neuromance and I haven’t been able to put it down. Finishing it tonight. Thanks for the recommendations! (To the certain person who has seen Reloaded already, shhhhhhhh.)

  1. gah, it’s so tempting!!! but i can’t watch Reloaded with out Tom. so, thanks for your open invite. we should do a movie night with the H-Townbloggers… or something with a little bit more daylight. 🙂

  2. Holy hell, I didn’t think about that, but you’re now discovering Neuromancer? Gibson is my favorite author. Read them in order (Neuromancer, Count Zero, Mona Lisa Overdrive, Virtual Light, Idoru, All Tomorrow’s Parties, and Pattern Recognition) but his latest is probably my favorite. He’s also done a collection of short stories (Burning Chrome, one of which inspired the movie Johnny Mnemonic, which is an entertaining and altogether forgivable foray into cinema) and a collaboration with Bruce Sterling (The Difference Engine), the other founder of cyberpunk.

[Yes! All of Gibson’s fiction works off the top of my head!]

If you haven’t read anything by Sterling, pick up a copy of Schismatrix if you can find it. Also very good, but I have a slight preference for Gibson.
