Tulane University

Tulane University in New Orleans lost their servers and website in Katrina, and on their new temporary site they’re using free, open source software to keep people updated. Note: If you’re trying to contact someone, it’s best to go to Tulane’s official website.

  1. Seriously, wordpress could go for the Duracell ad program: can you imagine a TV commercial (well, maybe not TV) that goes “When Hurricane Katrina knocked out Tulane’s website, they turned to wordpress to keep people informed…”

  2. Hey Matt, this is Tim here. I wanted to try and get in touch with someone in the Tulane baseball dept. I am a parnter with the Atlanta Braves organization and we just recently completed a new 30 million dollar stadium in MS. for the Braves AA baseball club. As your team will certainly need a place to play I wanted to extend the offer, but would need to get in touch with the baseball coach and or administration. I know these are trying times for you all but hopefully this offer will help ease some of the worries of the future. You can reach me at (601)212-7267 or (601)992-9730 or e-mail at cottonstateleague@yahoo.com or timbennett@cslbaseball.com

Thanks and I look forward to your response

  3. TULANE STUDENTS WELCOME AT COLORADO COLLEGE

Just spoke with the president of Colorado College in Colorado Springs. They will be accepting up to 30 students temporarily displaced due to Katrina. This is the IDEAL liberal arts college for starting late because they do not use the semester system. They use a “block” system in which you take classes one at a time for a three and a half week block. So a student coming here would not miss a single hour of any class because he could enroll to start at second or third block. Tulane will accept all credits from CC. (There are 3 Tulane students already here.) I don’t have access to post this info prominently on this site. I would put it as a pop up if I could because these 30 spots are going to go fast when Colorado College is discovered by displaced students. Do your fellow students a big favor and post this where it will be VERY visible. Not to mention that CC is one of the most highly ranked (princeton review and us news and world report) liberal arts colleges in the US.) Colorado College’s website is . Thanks.
