I’ve been dubbed The Publisher by BusinessWeek as one of their “25 Most Influential People on the Web.” Before anyone else writes in that I beat Rupert Murdoch, I think the slideshow is in alphabetical order. 🙂

You’ve been business weeked 🙂
You are #14, so there were 13 people more influential on the Web….Congrats on #14, it isn’t something you get to be just like that….If you sign my t-shirt at wordcamp torontol, and become #1, I will buy you a cuban cigar (or whatever is the “top” cigar brand) and a beer (if you don’t drink then milk).
So what did you do when you found out you were in the 25 list? Who did you call first?
I personally don’t think that it is a ranking at all, simply because everyone has a different ‘Title’. Its probably just some random order.
But anyways, congratulations Matt, it is well deserved, and I’m sure that without the Automattic team WordPress wouldn’t be where it is today.
Yep it’s just in alphabetical order, which is why I’m in between Ma and Murdoch.
Miroslav – haven’t called anyone yet. I found out via a SMS from Jason Hoffman.
Dude, Matt, congrats. Amazing the status that WordPress has brought you!
I did not see the full list in the article, can you show my who are from #13 up 🙂
Congratulations Matt!
Cool. Have you thought about how do you want to be influential? If so, how?
?? ??? you are great
Good recognition 🙂
If that would have been according to some scores, then shouldn’t you have been below 10 rank? 😉
Anyways yes, its in alphabetic order.

Hear! Hear!
“The Publisher” — awesome nickname! 😉
Way to go, Matt! That’s some pretty heady company to be in, but from where I sit you are certainly deserving of it.
I personally enjoyed the way they shared the list–in terms of each one’s contribution, and not the same-ol’ same-‘ol “Who’s #1?” etc. It makes each one of your contributions equally important–since they are!
Congratulations on all your achievements and this acknowledgement of your powerful influence on the Web. I’m truly proud to be a part of the WordPress family!
Congrats!
A wonderful Matt! The founding developer of WORDPRESS, hehe
Nice to know a little bit your biography
Good luck!
Congratulats! But don’t trust journalists and lists. Tomorrow they can classify you as jerk. 🙂
We use your software, we know that your contribution to the web is immeasurable.
Totally awesome, Matt.
[…] Matt Mullenweg, the lead developer of WordPress has been recognized for this unflagging success once again, being one of the top 25 most influential people on the world wide web. Some people say that he just ranked fourteenth is quite weak, others say it appeals very strong. Well, all that I can say (in which a lot of people would agree with me) is that the rankings is not based on any criteria (within the top 25) but they have been alphabetically arranged. What counts here is that Matt is one of them, and heck, job well done so far! […]

Whoa. Amazing!
Also, it’s Rupert with an e.
I think The Publisher needs a copyeditor. 😉
Haha was that a volunteer? 😉
Congrats Matt!
You are certainly in fine company.
All the best.
