I’m not a Linux guy and never had real time to devote to learning more than basic commands. However I can’t endorse WordPress enough as well because its so easy to work with and clients love it. So thanks from Norty Pig as well.

Ubuntu was the first distribution I’ve e’er tried when I installed it just over a year ago. I used it with Warty, their first offical release), upgraded to Hoary (April 2005), and currently I am running upgraded Hoary->Breezy system. It’s very stable (as far as I can tell), and there are very few excuses for me to migrate back to Windows (even though I have it installed on another partition). So, thank you WordPress, WordPress.com, Matt, and Ubuntu.

I use Ubuntu as my primary OS on a day-to-day basis. For what I do (developing, coding, IRC, e-mail, America’s Army) it’s ideal.
I still keep Windows on the dual-boot for games.

I refuse to use any OS named after a badger (or a raccoon, for that matter).
Just kidding. Ubuntu rocks, good luck with it.

I have 3 Linux machines at Manchester and 2 of them (the more recently set up) run Ubuntu while the main one (respository) runs SuSE.
While I’m here at home I use the Ubuntu Live CD because, let’s face it, it’s a pain to work under Windows as you cannot (trivially) SSH. Good luck with Ubuntu.

As a WordPress user and Ubuntu user myself, I don’t think you’ll regret it. It has been by far my favorite of FC, Mandrake, VidaLinux, and Gentoo (gentoo was cool…. but too much time and only good since I had nothing else to do that week).

I just installed Ubuntu the other day and I’m loving it. I’ve tried quite a few distros and so far Ubuntu is (at least from the perspective of a terminal phobic linux newb) hands down easiest to use.

Using it at both work and home – I upgraded from Hoary to Breezy this weekend. Highly recommended Linux distro if you’re new to this os.
