In situations like this, I always remind myself that there may be a good deal going on behind closed doors that I’m not aware of. Granted, at first glance, Matt’s actions seem precipitous, but after watching him for 20 years, that would be very uncharacteristic behavior.
Upon a closer look, Matt’s response seems to be one of understandable frustration, designed to force the issue. I suspect I’d be inclined to do the same. It’s a shame to see the Automattic crew divided by this issue, but the buyout offer was extremely generous, IMO, particularly for people whose loyalty was questionable.
