Squarespace has a fantastic site but the software is underwhelming, as are their “featured” sites. Searching around shows about 500 sites visibly powered by them. Anyone know anyone actually using it? I think there are some good ideas there WordPress could learn from.

Synergy seems to work a lot better with Windows as a server than Mac OS X. Before I was experiencing weird bugs, like the there was no 8 on my numpad. When I pressed 7 8 9 it would print 7 9 9. Alt+tab didn’t work from the Apple keyboard, something about the Apple key not quite being the equivilent of ctrl. Anyway the deal breaker was it was taking far to long to get the mouse from monitor one to monitor four, especially when I was, for example doing email on 4 and chatting on 1. The obvious solution is to loop the displays so when I go to the edge of 4 it takes me back to the beginning of 1. I couldn’t get this to work and on a whim I started up Synergy as a server on one of the PCs and all the old problems have gone away.

TextMate is the hot new editor for OS X. I’m working on a new project which is very code heavy and repetitive and this might be just the thing. I haven’t found an editor I love on OS X yet, I’ve just been using SubEthaEdit in the interim. What’s even cooler, of course, is that they’re using WordPress for their Textmate blog. I’ll buy the software just for that.

Keith is giving away a great blog design to the most worthy taker. I suggested GPLing it in the comments and that seems to have picked up some momentum. Just a warning if Keith decides to host it himself: blog templates can use a lot of bandwidth. I know Kubrick gets a ton of traffic.
