Lloyd has a great post about all the people who contributed to WordPress 2.2, thank you! Open source is about so much more than code and licenses.

Many of you have written in that CNN’s new Political Ticker blog is on WordPress. We know! They’re part of our VIP program which allowed them to launch quickly and serve millions of pageviews with no problems. The team there has launched dozens of blogs on the system, including ones for Fortune.com and CNN Money and is a real pleasure to work with. To the extent blogs are going to have an impact on the 2008 election they need to be able to reach millions of people in a short period of time without problems, I hope that WordPress.com provides that platform for folks.

The past few days I’ve been in Athens and now I’m on Ios island for the Greek Blogger Camp. Having a conference like this in one of the prettiest places in the world is a great idea (go Stefanos) and there is a lot of energy in the Greek blogosphere. Things are very early here, I’ve heard estimates that there are fewer than ten thousand Greek blogs, but it’s obvious that there is a lot of growth coming, they have all the right ingredients.

I actually dig the Facebook platform, but this quote is hilarious:
“And looking over press coverage of the announcement today, you’d think it was the late ’90s and Six Degrees had made Flooz its official currency and offered free Kozmo.com deliveries to all its members.”

I’ve started a  new mailing list to discuss an enterprise DB class for WordPress.

I just found out Nathan Myhrvold, the evil genius buying all the patents, is a Dvorak typist. I started typing Dvorak about 8 years ago, and fellow Automattician Michael Adams is also a Dvorak devotee. So if you want to be CTO of Microsoft, or do an Open Source web project (bbPress, WordPress), you should learn Dvorak. 🙂

As some of you may remember, I’ve been using a 32gb solid state drive in my desktop for a bit not, and I’ve been happy with it. Enough so that I was ready to make the jump to take apart my laptop and retrofit it with a SSD, and Toni was brave enough to volunteer as well. One problem — they’ve disappeared. All of the stores that I could previously find it from don’t have them anymore. Where did all the SSDs go? BTW the best news source I’ve found for SSDs is Engadget’s tag page.

Full Code Press is a 24-hour contest to build a website for a non-profit. Pretty cool idea.

Truemors, the new rumor site from Guy Kawasaki, is built on WordPress. It joins 71miles as a cool app built on the WP framework.
