Road Trip
Yesterday started a road trip from San Francisco to Houston. Barry has the details on his blog. Today is the long day — Pismo Beach, CA to Flagstaff, AZ. Wish us luck!
Fruit Bowl
WordPress founder to use million-dollar trumpet as fruit bowl. Ah, the internet. If you thought this was real, don’t feel too bad, I got a call from my mother about it. 🙂
NewTeeVee Party
Some photos of my uncle for his real estate business and the NewTeeVee party at the Pier.
In Argentina
WordCamp Argentina finished up today and was a fantastic event, great turnout too. Congrats to the many people who contributed to its success. I haven’t seen any coverage in English yet, but I expect that and photos soon. I’m in Buenos Aires until Sunday night so looking forward to exploring the city much more.
Months of Work

I missed it at the time, but Leo Laporte has switched to WordPress as his primary blogging platform.
Confession
I’ve been using IE7 quite a bit lately. It’s a darn-good browser and seems very fast, especially when I have a lot of tabs open, compared to Firefox.
On Labor Day
Exciting Day
After my post talking about Vanilla and Pligg yesterday Duncan Riley at Techcrunch decided to write an article saying “Automattic founder Matt Mullenweg has spoken out against a number of open source projects for profiteering from their code.” That of course isn’t true, and the comment thread that follows is interesting.
Airport Security?
I just found a pocketknife in my laptop bag. This is not unusual, except I remembered that I must have taken it with me both to and from Houston earlier in the week, passing through security both times with a 2 inch blade in my bag. This happened once before, but was caught on the return flight. Total I have passed through airport security at least 4 times with a forgotten pocketknife, and only once did they stop me. A 25% hit rate? That’s just going to frustrate me more next time I’m standing in a security line for an hour.
Wine in the Mail
Someone sent me a great bottle of wine, but with no identifying information of where it was from. Was it you?

Paul Davies says “people are not the result of a cosmic accident, but of laws of the universe that grant our lives meaning and purpose.”

In Greece
The past few days I’ve been in Athens and now I’m on Ios island for the Greek Blogger Camp. Having a conference like this in one of the prettiest places in the world is a great idea (go Stefanos) and there is a lot of energy in the Greek blogosphere. Things are very early here, I’ve heard estimates that there are fewer than ten thousand Greek blogs, but it’s obvious that there is a lot of growth coming, they have all the right ingredients.
Solo and the Wookie
Bring me Solo and the Wookie. P.S. I Can Has Cheezeburger is now hosted on WordPress.com.
Curt Schilling
For those of you who hadn’t heard yet, Curt Schilling has an awesome WordPress blog. He’s a star pitcher for the Boston Red Sox, if you haven’t heard of him check out his Wikipedia page. He’s hosted on WordPress.com VIP Hosting, which we had to raise the price on a few months ago due to demand.
NYC Meetup Pictures
Photos from the Meetup in NYC are up now. It was really enjoyable, NY has a really great group of WP folks.
