Reply Highlighting
If I ever highlight comments the colors would differentiate just me and everyone else, because that’s the only hierarchy on this site. I’m no longer being auto-highlighted over at Dave’s, which is too bad because I thought my mezzoyellow.com joke was funny, but I don’t think manual highlighting is going to scale. Basing it on URI is dangerous at best, and the PHP code is… well I need to write more PHP articles for Digital Web.
Stopdesign
I was thinking about redesigning, but now it’s trendy. Love the new logo. I also love live redesigns, it really gives you a peek into the designers mind. I learned so much by watching Zeldman iterate his design a year or so ago. When I redesigned photomatt.net it was a live redesign, and it was pretty ugly at some points but I’m happy with how it turned out. Yellow is the new black.

iPhone IMAP Tip
Hopefully this will help some future searchers. After the last iPhone update all the folders in my cPanel / Courier IMAP account started showing up in the Mail app, but I could not select them or move mail to them. I’d get an error like “mailbox does not exist” even though some part of the iPhone knew it did because it could see them. I Googled around and found that if you go to Settings > Mail > you@example.com > Advanced you could set an IMAP prefix to get everything working.
So I did, but nothing changed. However I deleted the account, reset it (hold down the top button), added the account back, set the prefix, reset again, and then all the folders started working. The advice I found worked, but there was some setting stuck somewhere that needed to be flushed out. Being able to file messages and read other folders from my iPhone is amazing. I was on the fence about the utility of the iPhone before, now I’m completely sold. It’s actually more fun than doing it in Thunderbird.

Only in the Bay area: Last night I was down at the Mountain View In-n-Out Burger enjoying a double and chocolate shake when I ran into Paul Martino, CTO of Tribe, and his lovely wife. We were both on the “Open Source Infrastructure” panel just last week. Tribe is doing some neat things with open data and standards, it’s time to check them out again.
